Welcome to NTNUI Rugby

Reading this note means that you have discovered our rugby team. We are a student team with a few civilian mercenaries that play the glorious game of rugby. As you may notice, this letter is in english. This is simply due to the fact that we are very international and we intend to stay this way.

In our club, everyone is welcome. The newbie who has never played rugby, the experienced expat who has played alongside international stars or the up-and-coming who represents Norway in international matches.

Organisation
NTNUI Rugby is a student club, but has a special agreement with NTNUI allowing non-students to play for the club since there are no other rugby clubs in the region. However, non student members are not included in the NTNUI travel funding and have no access to NTNUI facilities outside rugby context.

Team
The team consists of one ladies team and one team for the gentlemen. While the girls normally play tournament style rugby (7s or 10s), the boys also play 15s rugby. Being a student team, the number of players vary. This is a consequence of being a student club, but it also means that we are very welcoming to new players.


Games & Tournaments
Ladies
Participate in Norwegian cup tournaments playing 7s and 10s rugby

Gentlemen
Participate in some 7s tournaments before summer and the national 15s series after summer.

Social
Rugby is a very social sport. We always have a social "third half" after games and tournaments, where we go out with teammates and opponents. Apart from this we throw the occasional team party, watch international matches together and have a traditional "julebord" every year. The latter party always turn out to be an epic event...

Competitive rugby
For the players who want to push a bit further to improve their rugby game, we have a group of competitive players. These players are expected to train rugby and physical training in a structured way. In return they will be given more game time and attention at trainings. If you're up for it, let the coach know!

Practical information
-Due to practical reasons, he players cover travel expenses themselves. NTNUI members get partially refunded their costs with regards to plane tickets or rental cars.
-The Norwegian rugby federation (NRF) offers a non-mandatory insurance for players who are members of the norwegian social security system.
-NTNUI memberships are bought through NTNUI/SIT, while non-student memberships are charged directly by the club. Contact the board for details.
